Slayer and Megadeth to Perform at Long Beach Arena |

The “American Carnage” Tour featuring rock bands Slayer and Megadeth will make a stop at the SMG-managed Long Beach Arena on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 7PM. Presented by Live Nation, the tour will include special guest, Testament.
Slayer and Megadeth are two bands whose histories are intertwined in defining the hard-rock genre. Individually, their accomplishments are notable, but together they are even more impressive. They have joined forces to co-headline in one of the most eagerly anticipated tours of the season.
The American Carnage Tour will mark the first time that Slayer, Megadeth, and Testament have toured the U.S. together since 1991's "Clash of the Titans" tour, making this truly a must-see event.

Clean Comedy Jam at Long Beach Center Theater |

Family friendly comedy will again reign supreme for one night at the Center Theater/Long Beach Performing Arts Center on Saturday, July 24th, at 8PM. The Platinum Elite Clean Comedy Jam is presented by New Growth Entertainment.
The Platinum Elite Clean Comedy Jam boasts profanity-free comedy that is family friendly. The show will not be short on laughs and will feature some of today’s popular comedians from “BET’s Comic View,” HBO’s “Def Jam,” and Comedy Central.
The founder of New Growth Entertainment is comedian, promoter, and show host, Sunset. Having started her career in 1995 by touring the country and opening for acts such as Angie Stone, Musiq and Paul Taylor, Sunset has also appeared at the Comedy Store, Laugh Factory, Hollywood Improv, and the Ice House. She has been the host of several cable TV comedy shows, and regularly appears on BET’s “Comic View.”

Menopause the Musical at Long Beach Center Theater |

It is time to kick up those high heels! The international hit show Menopause The Musical is coming to the Long Beach Center Theater August 3rd through 8th with seven shows scheduled. The show is written and produced by Jeanie Linders.
Set in a department store, four women with seemingly nothing in common but a black lace bra meet by chance at a lingerie sale. The all female cast makes fun of their hot flashes, forgetfulness, mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats, and chocolate binges. A sisterhood is created between these diverse women as they realize that menopause is a stage in every woman’s life that is perfectly normal.

Inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, Jeanie Linders created the show as a celebration of women who are on the brink of, in the middle of, or have survived “The Change.”

Three-time-Grammy-nominated-singer-songwriter Joan Armatrading is bringing her vocal prowess to the Long Beach Terrace Theater on Saturday, August 7th at 8 PM. This show is a presentation of StandOut Productions.
With 19 albums to her credit and the newly released "This Charming Life," the singer-songwriter’s music has touched millions around the world. Armatrading has received countless gold, platinum, and silver records, been nominated for the Brit Award, been the recipient of an Ivor Novello Award, and ranked high in VH1's Top 100 poll for The Most Influential Woman In Rock.
Leaving school when she was only16, Armatrading undertook various jobs while writing her songs until signing to Cube Records in 1971. Her debut album, "Whatever's For Us," produced by the late Gus Dudgeon and written with her friend Pam Nestor, was released the following year in the UK and United States. In the career that followed, Armatrading has fashioned many classic songs including "Love and Affection," "Down To Zero," "Drop the Pilot," and "Me Myself I." |

Rahim Shah to Perform in Long Beach This July |

Pakistani pop singer, Rahim Shah hits the stage at the Long Beach Terrace Theater on Saturday, July 24th, at 7:30 PM. The show is a presentation of Ariana Entertainment.
Shah will be performing songs from his new album, Maa’ma Dey. The show will also feature a special surprise guest appearance and a dance group performance. Currently based in Karachi, Pakistan, Shah sings in Urdu, Punjabi, and his native language Pashto. He is the most notable Pakistani pop idol of Pashtun background.
His solo career began in the late 1990s with hits from the onset, including the song “Ghum,” which solidified his popularity early on. Following “Ghum,” Rahim recorded the album Peera, which also debuted to instant success. From here he went on to produce two albums in the same year, Sabaro and Medda Medda. After taking a short break, he returned back to work bringing another hit with the song “Channa.” Now in 2010, Shah is proud to debut his new album, Maa’ma Dey.

Experience the world of dance in one afternoon at the Long Beach Center Theater on Sunday, July 18th, 2010 at 4 PM. From belly dancing to ballet, DanceFest 2010 is a display of traditional, urban, and contemporary dance styles presented by the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation, and Marine’s Homeland Cultural Center.
