Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mortuaries and cemeteries aren’t normally the type of places you want to see on your vacation…but the architecture and artwork at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on East San Antonio Drive in Long Beach warrant a mention here. Enjoy Spanish Renaissance architecture, a Spanish Colonial chapel, a series of stained glass window panels describing California’s early history, a Foucault pendulum and much more. The park is located west of Cherry Avenue between Carson and Del Amo. Long Beach Bike Path The Long Beach Bike Path runs roughly 4.5 miles along the Long Beach waterfront, from Shoreline Village east to Belmont Shore. The path, a paved route along the sand, is used for walking, jogging, bicycling and inline skating. Marine Park/Mother’s Beach A local favorite for families! Mother’s Beach is located in a marina on Appian Way at 2nd Street, on the east side of Naples Island. Known for its calm and shallow swimming area, Marine Park also features volleyball courts, a children’s playground, a shady grass lawn, picnic sites and restrooms. Naples Island Naples Island is a picturesque neighborhood just east of Belmont Shore, connected to the mainland by two bridges along 2nd Street. Take a stroll along the circular Rivo Alto Canal lined with gorgeous homes, then relax to the sound of bubbling waters of the La Bella Fontana Di Napoli, located at the corner of Ravenna Drive and Corinthian Walk. Seal Beach Pier Take a walk along California’s second-longest pier, located in Seal Beach where Main Street meets Ocean Avenue. Signal Hill A trip to the top of Signal Hill is rewarded with a stunning view of the Downtown Long Beach skyline, the Long Beach waterfront and Catalina Island. To get there from the waterfront, take Cherry Avenue north towards Willow Street and turn right on Skyline Drive. |
